It's your local marketing matter.

But soon the MY will change a year before the real thing

But the spring is one of the best marketing seasons for cars, at least in Europe,
with the upcoming summer and all, so I kind of understand the problem.
That is, that the year changes in the winter time

Volvo introduces their next MY generation in July/August in europe,
everyone is just trying to sell cars.
Does not answer my question though??

A European E60, built in Aug 05, registered Sept 05 is an 05 spec car. A car built in Sept 05 is an 06 spec car & a car built in March is an 07 spec car. That means the specs move up a whole model year every 6 months ??? so in Sept 2006, the 08 spec car will start being built. You see where i'm coming from???

See post elsewhere, In Europe March is a minor revision date, September the Major yearly revision.
That came from a friend working at BMW UK (They are primarily price increase points to adjust for materials & labour as well as exchange rates, the technical revisions are to keep us hooked and to address issues and part of the refining of manufacturing during the life cycle)

I can totally understand that, but surely BMW do not call the minor & majors a year model change?? Should be Sept is a model year so 05 started in Sept 04, then 06 in Sept 05, then 07 in Sept 06. This being the case, no-one can be getting on 07 spec car until Sept/Oct this year. Any car ordered between 30th Sept 05 & 29th Sept 06 will be an 06 spec car, after Sept 06 then 07 cars will be supplied. A car ordered between March 06 & Sept 06 will still be an 06 car, but with any revisions issued at the March minor change.

FINALLY Confirmed my order ( MY 07 - 530 D SE with numerous options) yesterday and have been told today car will be here before the end of April. I wanted it end of May to fit in with the end of my A4 lease.

Is my dealer optomistic or plain wrong? He has only been selling BMW 8 months and I know more about E60 than him (thanks to all you helpful people!!)

Ordered mine on 14th Feb, being manufactured as we speak, dealer is confident that delivery will be before the end of March.
