My Ride: On Order, due in May - 2007MY 530D SE, Silver Grey, Black Dakota, Auto, Brushed aluminium shadowline, sports seats / wheel, hi fi speakers, mats, space saver wheel and a few more bits
FINALLY Confirmed my order ( MY 07 - 530 D SE with numerous options) yesterday and have been told today car will be here before the end of April. I wanted it end of May to fit in with the end of my A4 lease.
Is my dealer optomistic or plain wrong? He has only been selling BMW 8 months and I know more about E60 than him (thanks to all you helpful people!!)

My Ride: F11 535i M-Sport,, Silver, Black Leather, LED Adaptive headlights
Model Year: 2015
Engine: N55
He will probably be right, he will have the build slot date and proposed completion date.
It's not far from Munich to the UK. So delivery time is pretty straightforward.
Tell him to keep polishing it until you are ready to collect.

So the US isn't the only place where MY07 is coming out early...
(I had thought it was a US thing)

My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.
Congrats, may the time move swiftly!
MY '07 already also in GB??? I doubt it.
In UK have have a twice a year license plate
issue, which of what I understand is important.
A UK special is the also SE model name.
It doesn't excist anywhere else, but someone
explain this also to us, about a half year ago.

I think some of the EU dealers were aware of this before the NA dealers. I found out in January about the March change over to MY07 from some one here on this board. When I asked my dealer he told me I was full of it and showed me the latest memos from BMWNA to prove it.
but they seem to do some changes also in March.
For example the new N52 sixinlines where intruduced last March.
But BMW do changes all the time to their products.
A good example is the E90 which was improved since Feb production this year.
See this link.
Also the E60 was improved do to bad EuroNCAP tests in Nov. '04.

My Ride: (E60) 535D M-Sport (DMS)
Can someone explain to me how a car arriving in April can be called an 07 spec. If the 06 spec for E60's is for car's manufactured after 30/09/05, then how can an April car be an 07? surely it's just a kind of 06 SP1.
My car was built in Aug 05 & reg'd Sept 05 & it's an 05MY, so i can;t see how 3 model years can span a little over 6 months.
Is someone confusing UK new registration dates (1st March & 1st Sept)with Model Years?

In the US of A they call the March models '07.
It's a US marketing jippo!

This has been done for some time. BMW isn't alone and the E60/E90's weren't the first in the BMW line up. The same thing happened with the 2000 Z3's and M Roadsters. They were introduced in (I think) May 1999. Nissan did it before that too. Traditionally the new model year was done with the September production. But it's not law in most countries.

But soon the MY will change a year before the real thing
But the spring is one of the best marketing seasons for cars, at least in Europe,
with the upcoming summer and all, so I kind of understand the problem.
That is, that the year changes in the winter time
Volvo introduces their next MY generation in July/August in europe,
everyone is just trying to sell cars.
