Exclamation Radio/iDrive system issue

I hope this isn't a repost, tried searching but couldn't come up with anything close, but my '05 525i seems to be having some issues with the radio/entertainment system. Every so often, it won't turn on. Sometimes when that happens it'll come on while driving, otherwise it's a silent ride.

This seems to also affect the tone the vehicle makes when the key is in the ignition. Sometimes it won't go off, or will go off but just keep going even after the key is removed and/or the driver door closes, or it will go off after turning the car off with no key in the ignition and I open the driver door. The image that appears when you turn the car off comes on the screen whenever I'm driving and the system doesn't turn on, and you can hear the discs inside the drives trying to play? It's kind of hard to explain.

Does anyone else have this issue or had this issue? I have a feeling the only fix is bringing it to the dealer and having them replace the CD drive which I'm sure will cost me a lot. Thoughts or ideas? I'm at my wits ends with this, I'd love to drive my car and having a working system every time, not just sometimes

How old is your battery--the radio is very sensitive to battery issues. Mine NAV stopped working right before I replaced the battery, but I was also getting other random messages. My NAV went into "transport mode" and had to be reset via INPA.

The battery was dying so I changed it and registered it. It did get better, but still had this same issue though. And to this day, still having these issues. Battery now is coming up to about 9 months old.
