Hello I got a second set of wheels for my car and I need to know if I need to get RDC sensors installed on them? Im not sure if my car requires them or not??? My car came with runflat tires and I have the ftm in my Idrive menu... Does that mean that I need RDC sensors?

You don't need any tire sensors. The sensors were introduced in 06 e60s.

even if my vehicle came equipped with RFT's? and I have the tire monitor in IDrive? I know that when I had my current wheels installed that the low tire came up in my idrive but after I went to the menu and initialized again it went away... will this be the same deal?

Up to some 2006 you dont have anything in your wheels . the RDC and FTM are derived from the an exterior sensor and brakes to determine the perssure. Newer models come with a sensor in the rims and require new sensors for new rims.
ie: I have a 2006 with 20s and no sensors in mine,

Hmmm... Now that I think about it, the tire sensors were most likely introduced in 07 e60s since Don Juan mentioned his 06 didn't have the sensors. I think the 07s came out this spring that was why I was confused for a sec.

You can install them but they will be totally useless dead weights because you car does not have receivers to receive and process the low pressure signals. What you have now is a more elegant way to get the job done, versus the brute force method mandated by the US government.

Well I don't know about sensors or not actually in the tire for later models but I do know that you have to reset the RTM everytime you changed tires or tire pressure, otherwise the RTM will senses a different turning speed of your wheel and think that you have a flat.

I have a 2004 version and there are no sensers in the rim because I just change my RFT to 19" AC type 4 and after installing them I need to reset the RDC because the computer telling me that I my tyres are flat which they are not. but I dont know if the newer model have it in the rims just like the E46
