I have about 6300 miles at the moment and indicator for servicing the oil continues to drop.
Am I hurting the longevity of the car at all by driving it hard?

As long as you're not abusing the car, I would drive the hell out of it. That's what it's made for.

Not sure if diesels are different, but I'm now over the 10,000 mark and the car tells me to wait another 10,000 before changing the oil. 20,000 between il changes!!! Is that mad or impressive engineering?

Jack-E61,
As someone pointed out before, the milage that is displayed in your service requirements section of I-Drive is how many miles are LEFT, not when it is due. For example, I have 7,500 miles on my car and it says 6,900 in my idrive and OK. If it was due AT 6,900 miles it would not say OK it would say overdue, or due for service since I am already over that 6,900 mikles.

I think that's right for the in-dash display, but not for the idrive monitor. On my idrive it tells me WHEN - not how longer I can drive until - the service has to be done...

ICEMAN - This is NOT TRUE. This displays the time or distance remaining until the service is required. This does NOT tell you at which milage it should be performed. Any doubts as to the accuracy of this, refer to page 181 of the manual on the bottom left side. If you do not show this manual, look at the latest one in your owner's circle.

On the little display in the tach it shows how much is left to drive until I need service, in the idrive it's showing at what mileage/Km it needs the service. The numbers are different and the one in the idrive is not changing...

Iceman, yours must be different over there. I do not have that option for service in the tach area. I can only see how many miles till out of fuel, average MPG/KPG, Average speed and then just the setting of the tansmission. You can really display all of those items on your tach area such as miles till oil change, miles till break pads fron, miles till brake pads rear etc... on your tach area?

skipper, watch the area where the time and temperature is (between the tach and speedo) the next time you start the car.
It will momemtarily display the service interval that Iceman is referring to...

Ouch,
I guess I mixed some things up.
Yes, in the tach area I can see the service. It tells me how long to the next service. Oil, brake pads, etc. is in idrive. BUT, there it tells me at what mileage I am getting it... I now think there is somethig wrong on mine...
I am really confused now... I'll have my dealer check it in October...
