Too much oil can be a potentially huge problem. 
What will happen is that the oil with come into contact with the crankshaft and then be whipped into a froth. This then will be sucked into the rest of the engine. Robbing the engine of oil in the needed places.
Next you will have the pleasure of making a nice payment on a new engine.

My Ride: 2005 545I - Black Sapphire/black leather, sports package, nav, auto, logic 7, cold weather package, smokers package, black tinted windows.
After reading this I am still wondering why I can't get the oil screen on the idrive to show the oil level... It's been over 2000 miles since last oil change and still the screen doesn't show me anything. Does the engine have to be off to see it?
