Update:
So I bought the two oil filter gaskets from the dealer, $18 each. (Part 4,5 in http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...&fg=30&lang=en)
I went to a shop for oil change and replacement of the two gasket, they are asking $280 for the replacement, and $50+ for oil change. They say the work will take 3 hours.
Guys, do you think it can be such a big surgery?! Is it necessary to take the whole oil filter tank out?
Please tell me anything you know. I just don't think the gasket replacement can be that complicated.
Thank.

I think the job can be done in two hours, but if the shop is going by a job rate manual that says 3 hours then that's what you get charged for.
IMO unless you are challenged when it comes to working on cars you should be able to do this yourself. The oil filter assembly sits right in front of the engine at the top - it couldn't be in a better place to work on. Just look at the OEM diagram carefully and remove what you need to replace the gaskets, then reassemble.

^^^FYI I just recently had the oil cooler replaced in my car. Work was done at a dealership - they didn't have to drain any oil, just refill once the part was replaced. The oil filter assembly should not have much oil in it. Just be prepared to catch some oil when you remove the two oil lines. Good luck!
