Odometer went crazy after using new key
So as far CKM (Car Key Mem), yes each key does have its each setting but should not be doing what you were. Unless there's something going on here as far as a coverup. At the dealer what they do is get your VIN and code the key to your vin (I assume you have comfort key fob) and then you pickup and that's that. For me I do not, I have standard 315MHz key and it works for my comfort access settings fine and I have used a blank key, cut it to my car and have taken out the insides of the remote of a functional 315MHz key and programmed to my car. Once working, I had the key cut to the original key's specs. I've done this on my E39, E60 and E46 and have never had the mileage issue like what you're describing.
