Yep, I'm an American. Yep, I like my coffee in the morning.

How about a real cupholder that doesn't make me worry about my beverage spilling every time I consider placing my cup in that poor excuse for a cupholder...clever mechanics, poor execution.
Definitely need a new cup holder. How about better styling for the front headlights and a much better NAV.

1. Either no runflats or some that actually behave like real tyres!

2. Sunglasses holder, how I miss the dinky case above my head on my old Toyota.

3. Less brake dust.

4. An auto transmission that works.

5. Digital readouts for aircon

6. Better storage space in the cabin

7. 500BHP and 50 mpg.

My concern is less about the car being too cold. I'm aware of the tach indicator you referred to. My concern is if/when the car is overheating, for whatever reason. I don't think that tach thing does any good then, does it?
That gauge is always supposed to be in the middle (unless it is still warming up, of course). In my 740i, the gauge went up to about 3/4 (1/2 way between middle and red; first time I've ever had high in any of my bimmers), so I got worried and went to the dealer. Turns out there was some leaking in my reservoir tank. So, I would say that the tach thing does very good, when it needs to.

just my $.02

OK guys part II from me.

Powerplants:-

Change nothing except the fuel economy, think planet, think our bank balances

Transmissions:-

Finally develop an auto box that really works like a manual when you want to be that F1 driver, minus lazy paddle shifts, but is still a true auto for our congested cities.

Chassis / Dynamics:-

Never force your customer to accept run-flats, especially when they compromise the driver appeal and are a backward step from the previous 5er. Never sway from that 50/50 balance. Introduce as standard variable dampers / spring rates for the fluctuating surfaces we must drive on.

Points missed 1st time around

PDC - make sure this operates from 4MPH going forwards into parking spaces rather than relying on activating a switch, the present set up is nuts

Make aftermarket options available that integrate easily rather than the common complaints found on this site

Finally listen to your customers and dont think you know better.

Rear LED lights. Hope front LED lights too as Audi / VW seem to use them a lot on their concept cars ! Why not BMW???

BMW have likely began early work on the next 5-series. Personnally I would like to see some small detail additions.
i.e. A compartment to hold sunglasses like the E-Class has
A better designed rear arm rest that doesnt show the cup holders etc when down
Standard 12V power outlets in the trunk & rear cabin
An i-drive screen you can turn the back light off on al la Audi.
An optional large numeral LCD speed indicator in white (as people get older they get short sighted generally) red/orange is harder to see than white on black with poor close vision.
Rear Bumper lip 3M protection
Two drivers side visors (The Mini even has these)
Wipers orientated for Right hand drive cars
Thats for going on with, powerplant, gear box, chassis set-up/tyres to follow.

I'd like to see the following:

1) continued distinctive styling on both the interior and exterior - more Bangle
2) comfort access should be standard
3) magnesuim (sic) crankcase and other such components in a direct injection V8
4) faster NAV response with better overall electronics
5) less weight - more alloy in the chassis
6) rear view camera
7) better and more intuitive feel for the I-Drive (silence all the critics)
and

8) ED delivery where your front bumper isn't drilled

And for the Munchen ED prep center, having lots of Augustiner Lager on tap.
