BMW have likely began early work on the next 5-series. Personnally I would like to see some small detail additions.
i.e. A compartment to hold sunglasses like the E-Class has
A better designed rear arm rest that doesnt show the cup holders etc when down
Standard 12V power outlets in the trunk & rear cabin
An i-drive screen you can turn the back light off on al la Audi.
An optional large numeral LCD speed indicator in white (as people get older they get short sighted generally) red/orange is harder to see than white on black with poor close vision.
Rear Bumper lip 3M protection
Two drivers side visors (The Mini even has these)
Wipers orientated for Right hand drive cars

Thats for going on with, powerplant, gear box, chassis set-up/tyres to follow.

I want to see "AMG" models. For example, I want to see something between the 5X0i and the M5--but much less pricey than the M5. In my mind, the car would more like the Alpina B5 than the M5.

NOS (to beat a Ferrari at a stoplight)
Oil slick (to outrun a cop)
Smokescreen (to distract a cop)
Stealth mode (to hide from a cop)
Missiles (to cut down those that cut me off in traffic)
Wings (to take off in filght to beat traffic)

Ok, seriously, here's what I'd like to see ...
1. more interior colors and two-tone setups
2. in-dash CD changer
3. a CSL or club sport option, i.e., lighter, stripped out version of the 5er

Yes--I can't believe this car doesn't have one.

So basically you want the Batmobile!

Yes that would be a sweet F10... but maybe a bit too much on the 'flashy' side though

The e60 actually does have a "engine temp guage" that is located around the TAC. Granted it doesn't show the actual temp, but lets you know if the engine is too cold, or too hot. Dunno if it helps, but I don't see the point to know that my engine is at 250degree F.

My concern is less about the car being too cold. I'm aware of the tach indicator you referred to. My concern is if/when the car is overheating, for whatever reason. I don't think that tach thing does any good then, does it?
