I had my new wheels and tires put on today. 166's with M6 offset on Pilot sport a/s tires. Looks and rides great. The problem is that the passenger rear tire is freaking rubbing when I hit a bump. How can ONE side rub and not the other. I researched all of this for a while and I think this is a set up that many are using. 245/35 front and 275/30 19 rear. Car is a 2007 530i sport.

Any suggestions?

what are the offsets on the M6 version? The M5 offset of 28mm works fine with that size tire and up to a 285/35/19.

If one side is rubbing then I would say something is out of alignment. It might be worth doing a 4-wheel alignment as the camber on that wheel might be off. Just a WAG.

i just did mine today and it got rid of all my rubbing that was going on

granted though im almost tucked now for my setup and my volks have an aggressive offset

 

I'm not sure what the actual number of the offset is. But everything I read researched and asked of individuals pointed to this set up working ok. I'll see what I can find.

 

Before I get in to that, I thought... thought, with this set up that fenders didn't need to be rolled. I want to try to not do that if possible. And where would you go to get them rolled? Something isn't right though if just one is rubbing.

 

both are probably rubbing but you can only hear the one closest to you, it could be the tire brand as well. Some brand sizes are actually a little bit wider and thicker than others.

 

Actually, it's just the passenger side. You can see the marks on the tires, there is nothing on the driver's side. There is no doubt that the noise is coming from the passenger side.

 

The offset is ET 17 I believe.

 

which is less than the stock et 20 for the 530. is it rubbing on the inside of the wheel or the outside?

 

correct, ET 17 is the rear M6 offset. A lot of members here run M6 offsets on their 166's or add spacers 10-15mm spacers with M5 offsets and run 275/30/19 on the rear tires without rubbing, and with stock sport suspension as well. Perhaps you have a bad shock or suspension issue on that side...how many miles on the e60...


You honestly should not have to roll your fenders with the offset and tire size...
