But in my personal experience DS didn't help me in accelerating from 0 to 100 (sprint) since you keep pedal to the metal all the way to 100. On the other hand it doesn't let RPM fall down when you un-hold acceleration pedal during fast movement and is useful in out-manouvering other cars or obstacles without losing speed/momentum.
and DS is "Drive Sport". when i first got my car i thought it was telling me "DS" for "Downshift" to activate Manual Mode.

Congrats on the ride. I am suprised you didn't do all of this research BEFORE you bought an expensive automobile.
