I use it for over 4 years now. The one BMW has installed is perfect. One day I had about 2 inches of snow and ice left on my car. After 30 minutes of warming up, the windows and about 50 percent of the hood were free. The interior was warmed up, easy start of the engine with regular RPM's.
I really love it.

Hey everyone,

I'm picking up my new 545i this Friday and am wondering if a remote car starter is available for this model.? I've been told by some that it cannot be done without too much trouble.? Any thoughts would be appreciated.? I live up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Thanks,

Leon

Leon, how has the new 545 driven in Edmonton's cold weather over the last few days (highs of -20c in snow ) ... any problems?

I used to drive an old (E34) 5 series when I lived in arctic northern BC - no problems at all!

Be interesting to see how the new E60s handle it

I picked the car up on Friday and have driven it for two days now. The car has no problems with the cold weather -20. It starts right away and the interior warms up very quickly( the temperature and seats) My wife commented that maybe I don't need a remote starter to warm the car up, because the air temp and seats warms so quickly.

The 545i handles great in the packed snow that is on the ground now, the dsc seems to work well, not letting me spin the car on snow. I've not played around with dtc though.

I have the snow only Dunlop grapic ds2 runflats and I think they are pretty good in the ice and snow.

I have Webasto, but integrated to iDrive (BMW option 536). It comes with two timers and remote starter. Also it runs until engine is hot, when car is started.

Really nice in northern countries.
