Wow, only coding is needed at this point. I guess I'll get it coded then. But what about the satellite radio receiver and antenna? Is that already in the car? Is the difference between satellite ready and 655 just the coding?

693 means all of the wiring, including the antenna is present, but the actual module is not present. This is 'satellite prep'. 655 means the module was installed and all applicable were modules programmed at the time of manufacture. This is all moot now as all new BMWs have the hardware built in, and all that's needed to activate Sirius is an FSC code that you buy from the dealer.

I'm really lost now. According to the installation instructions for the satellite radio install on a 693 prepped car, the parts to be installed are the Sirius receiver and bracket I already have in my car: http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/att...-sat-radio.pdf

You need to make sure you have 655 added to the vehicle order and you need to make sure your CCC module has been programmed to recognize the Sirius module. No one is going to be able to help you until you do that. Have you done this step yet?

After I get the AC (remove transport mode) and vacuum leak fixed (hopefully tomorrow), I'll look into returning the CCC to have the fan operation checked as well as the satellite radio coded. It appears one of the previous owners installed the hardware, so I suspect they had fully functional sat radio. Of course I didn't see that since the CCC was inoperable when I bought the car.

maybe. or maybe they bought the module (they arent that expensive) thinking they could just plug and play it and didnt realize it would require coding.

That's is what I think happened. The last owner thought it was plug and play and installed it. Then when it did not work then was stomped.

here are the Sat Radio retrofit instructions from BMW. There is some MOST Network plumbing you need to do to have Sat Radio work.
