I would have turned off the engine when the message came up, opened the hood and physically checked the coolant in the expansion tank. You just don't ignore messages....

Have you bothered to physically check the coolant leavel yet?

Have you checked the actual coolant level in the coolant tank? Sounds like you are just about need to add some coolant. When cold, the level will be lower and possibly trip the message. However, when warm, the coolant expands and the alarm clears, since the level is "OK". This might explain your situation. Check the level when cold and add as needed. Level is supposed to be checked at 20 C (68 F).

I just checked the level and the car has been sitting for about
10 hours and the engine is cold to the touch and the float is down low and I pulled it up pretty far up being that it should be up when it's full according to the diagram next to the cap I'll need to top it off correct ?

Sounds (looks) like you need at least 2 cups of coolant, but fill it to register as indicated on the float stick.
