That doesn't sounds right... was your AC on? Perhaps his car was modded? Your car goes from 0-100mph in 11.9sec while his does it in 13.9sec... I know you said going from 90-130 but this just puts things in perspective... he shouldn't have smoked you. You are only 200lbs heavier. Did you have a full car of people? Did you both punch it at the same time? I mean, if he was already accelerating from behind and was at like 5000rpm when he was beside you and you were cruising at around 3000rpm then that's not really getting smoked... he had a head start.. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't feel bad... when it comes down to it your e60 is a much better car overall than the G37...

I'll say this...I say that I am a very aggressive driver..1ent to Skip Barber Driving School and Racing School (Graduate)...this guy knew how to drive! We were on the Wantagh Pkwy in LI NY just south of the SSP (very hard turns on the highway) and he smoked me! yes, he had a bit of a jump on me but no more than the count of 1.5 seconds...it was a true beat down... I even had to back off thereafter cause he kepT going...he must have hit 140+ easy. As for mods, I have no clue. I just know that if you see a white G37 on the SSP at night, better have an M5!

 

By the way, it was the 2dr not 4 dr.

Guys the new 2009 G35 four door has new engine 3.7 Liter with 328 HP, a 7-speed automatic transmission with Drive Sport (DS) Mode and Downshift Rev Matching. This is some serious power. I had a G35 in 2003 and I remember that car was pretty fast and did not even have the 3.7 Liter engine. Also it doesn't weight as much as the E60.

 

2009 G-sedan does have 328hp but is is called G37. Car&Driver found it to be a little slower than 2008 G35. With a new 3.7 liter engine Infiniti mostly improved NHV not speed. BTW they are not available as of yet but coming soon.

The only G37 that is a vailable is a coupe (330hp) and the only way it could beat a BMW 550 at higher speeds is by way of supercharging.

As to E500 vs. BMW 545. They are about equal. The best 0-60 times I've ever seen for both cars is 5.2 sec

 

I don't know, I went up against a G37. The first try at it, I was on 4th gear he was slowly pulling away. So the second try I dropped it in 3rd gear and I was slowly pulling away. It was 2 lanes on the highway and he got to the empty lane first and gun it. I caught up and pulled away.

 

I raced a G35 (coupe) from 60 to 120 MPH and beat it by about two-car length (I-70 in Maryland).

All the reviews so far have indicated that the G37 has similar or somewhat slower performance than the G35 (bigger engine but also heavier) so you should have beaten him. The best number I've seen for the G37 is 13.8s 1/4 mile with 102 MPH trap speed.

 

Don't forget to ditch the floor mats if you think you might be in a race later. I hear driving naked helps also....Except for trying to explain to the cops what you were doing.
