You know, sometimes I wish . . . . . . . . . .

Oh, forget it. I've even left it unlocked several times, and nothing happened.

Well sure, if you have cj1-alarm (carjack1) you have to enter a personal code when you start the engine. Everytime you open a door you have to enter the code again. When you don't do that the car will give a warning and then you can still enter the code. But again when you avoid this warning the car will slow down and an alarm goes off, the lights will go on and off,... So someone definitally will see or hear the thiefs!

So far my opinion...

well to make a long story short I live in New York queens and i guess these things happens alot but not where i live fresh meadow, last weekend me and my wife went to a local shopping center to grab a bit to eat. park my car really far away from all the trucks and suv's 40mins later we're walking back to the car and notice all the windows was down even the moon roof and there i see a rent a cop standing next to my car then i ask what the f@#@ happened???? sir your car was broken into! so i had them call the cops and file a report. apparently they broken into my car and took my oakley's sunglass and my nextel phone. i dunno if they were going for the car it self. funny I ask the rent a cop where were you guys when this happened and they had the nerf to tell me one of their security was on a lunch break. they will be hearing from me very soon. anyway luckily some guy saw 2 black guys jacking my car and wrote the plate down so i hope the nypd can track them down soon. also one of the security (rent a cop) i was talking to said this was the 5th bmw this week. I WAS LIKE WTF 2 bmw X5 had their xeon lights stollen yesterday ?? A word of advise guys with a screwdriver they can pop your lock and open all your windows without the alarm going off this is how bmw works I was very surprise, its that simple I comfirm this with the dealer's Mechanic. I'm having second thoughts if i try trade in the 545i and get a cheap ass honda

Sorry to hear that. in a somewhat related story, i was driving by my local BMW dealership in the Chicago Western burbs last weekend. Visiting the dealer lot (looking at E60s) is important therapy for me as I wait for my ED car to be redelivery.

Anway, a see a guy in a Lexus (the pumpkin seed sports coupe) taking pictures. On closer inspection, I see two BMWs (an E39 540 and M3) on red colored concrete blocks with the wheels gone. So I chatted him up and learned he owned the unfortunate M3. He was in shock, so I didn't offend him by taking my own ditigal pics of the scene. I must admit the temptation was there, as I thought of my E60.com forum buddies. Overall, it seemed to be a real pro job with the blocks chipped down to perfect height. I'd imagine the blocks really scratched up the underside of the cars. Terrible really.

So I guess the cops will setup a dragnet and snare me in a couple of weeks. Of course I'm completely innocent and my frequent visits are just routine therapy. Given that I sometimes drive my 93 junker down there, I'm probably the main suspect. No doubt the ringleader and scout.

I'm sure you guys can vouch for me, as I haven't yet posted any rims for sale.

If, and I mean if, the lock can be turned with a screwdriver and all the windows go down, it probably disarms the alarm as well. (It would be like turning the key in the keyhole and holding it to lower the windows.)

Although I'm not doubting the information that VaSh9394 has, I find it hard to believe that this is possible...
When I recieved my 5, I rolled all the windows down then locked the car. I put my arms inside the car and grabbed my cell and nothing happened. I asked the dealer why and he said he had no clue. I called BMW and they said that the windows and moon roof must all be up before the car is locked in order for the motion sensor to work. I guess you can't test it without breaking your windows!

I'm interested in your llumar film. How does that compare, do u think, to the 3M scotchshield security film? How thick is the llumar film? If its very thick, won't it affect your window mechanism?

Lock yourself in the car. It takes about a min to 90 seconds for the sensor to activate.
