Damn. Sorry to hear that. The car has been driven for a few hours and should normally charge up the battery. You should have the dealer replace it with a new one. Good luck
Exactly. We drove hard. The battery is clearly not holding a charge and/or the alternator is not adequately charging it.

...look at it this way scott... at least if you have to be stranded on the side of the road, you look good doing it and people wont think you are broke down because you are poor

Actually, given my cynical view of human nature, I would expect most people to chuckle and be amused by the sight of a fancy new BMW that won't start when a $25-$30K new Honda always will.

Scott, that's horrible. When did it die? I hope you got home for this to happen and Victor was happily ensconced in front of a TV set by then. Let it the issue be quickly solved on Monday.
It died about a half an hour after we all left the meet. Brabusw209amg and I drove to the Roosevelt Field Mall. We stopped for a minute in an outer parking lot so he could change out a LED panel. When I then went to start it back up it wouldn't start.

last month i had a post about all the problems i was experiencing. I understand bmws are more tempermental then their japanese competition, maybe it is the price we pay to drive "exciting" cars, but now when my car does something stupid that would infuriate me, like not start, i just say "awe, this car has character". not knowing if i am gonna make it home in my new 60K car because electronics may catch on fire or the fuel pump will stop working, keeps things exciting, but i digress
I can tolerate the litlte things like squeaks and rattles and the occassional minor electrically issue or slow iDrive but not starting for a new car is just ridiculous.

Had a similar problem several times with my 2004 545i. The dealer and BMWNA decided that the TCU was bad and would not allow the car to go to sleep, thus draining the battery. They replaced the TCU and battery two times. When I picked the car up the last time I was told by the dealer that BMWNA said that since I was pairing a noncompliant bluetooth phone, a blackberry 8830, that the phone could be damaging the TCU and that no more TCU's would be replaced under warranty if I continued to pair my 8830. I requested and was granted a meeting with BMW Engineering. I told them that phone compatability as refered to on the BMW website, dealt only with functionality and that if a TCU could be damaged by bluetooth connectivity with an FCC compliant phone, which was highly unlikely if not impossible, that the TCU, rather than the phone had the problem. BMW Engineering agreed and told me to continue pairing my Blackberry and that if the problem persisted they would continue to search for the actual cause. Personally, I feel the power management system on the E60 is at best flukey.

Good Luck,
Bill
