Well let's put it this way. I play CD's in there that I have burned. I haven't gotten around to actually burning a DVD yet. The CD's that I burn work in there.
CD's with MP3s? The topic here is MP3 playback....
ULtraPLanet- The reason I mentioned this is because of the posting I have included below this paragraph. So I was actually bringing it to his attention.

JDN - "I can now get about 20-22 pieces in cda format converted from mp3 on one CD. Looking forward to getting 700 MB of mp3. That should be about 200 if I trim out some of the Mozart." on page 1 of this topic. I was simply pointing out that he could get more then 20-22 pieces on a dvd if he has that ability.

RE: MP3 quality...

Isn't is mostly about the bitrate? If you download a MP3 with 192 bitrate, that's CD quality (for the most part).

I should have told this earlier. I've tried burned DVDs and burned CD-Rs and CD-RWs just for completeness sake. As of now, I've not been able to get the I-Drive to recognize a single piece of media burned with an MP3 file in it. As far as I know, until they release an update. It just isnt possible yet.

Don't fret though, I'm sure one of the guys chummy with their service techs should tell us when or if we'll ever get it. We just need to be PATIENT. And that is definitely not my best virtue. :'(

I just got my car 2 weeks ago so the software should be pretty updated. Plus I've talked to my service people and they have no clue yet. So we wait.

Hello everybody,

I was at BMW Gothenburg last week and spoke to their chief engineer last week about an software upgrade for my car. They are awaiting version 13, it is supposed to arrive anyday now. However, this upgrade will not enable MP3 compability. When i asked him abuot this he showed me a newsletter on their intranet. It said the update for MP3 compability will be available in march 2005.... I read it myself! So I guess we all just have to wait..!

take care everybody!

In the end the updates will be there when I am selling my car in 3 years... aarrghh... On the other hand. That is a reason to keep the car for 4 or 5 years isn't it.

MARCH 2005?! :'( Boohoohoo...

Oh well, thank god for iTrip. That should keep my MP3 addiction in check for another 6 months.

Off topic but I'm really curious if you were able to read what they planned to include in revision 13?

Anyways thanks for the headsup!

Question is: Since they are not giving us mp3 or DVD yet.. What will change in version 13??? No more crashing I-Drive?
