Yeah, as long as you have RNS-E (DVD NAV+) you have two SD card slots behind the screen for MP3 playback.
Everyone is hoping for a firmware upgrade so you can add P.O.I on one of the cards, for speed cameras etc.

Probably it's just me, but I can hear a great difference in playback of mp3 music in my E60 compared with audio CD's.
I know how to encode, so this is not the problem for sure. Lately all my MP3 dvd's are 320 kbps, because anyway, E60's DVD unit can only read 239 songs on one DVD. So encoded for test with many apps: WinAmp, EZ CD-DA Extractor, etc... All with max settings.
Still CD Audio sounds better. Sorry... It's normal with a very good audio system like in our E60.
So I keep MP3 dvds for radio-like music, but when I really feel I want quality, CD-Audio and in-dash cd-changer is the answer.

Thanks for the encouragement for guys like me who can't play mp3. I thought Sirius Radio was cool until the sound quality was crappier than my $10 pair of temporary computer speakers.
I'll stick with the CD Audios.
With CD changer you still get like 120+ songs... not too bad...

but the whole point of buying 10 new cds a week, to keep up with your mood, is very costly, no??

I used Exact Audio Copy w/ LAME encoder @ 256kbps VBR, and normalized using MP3Gain. It's all free software--give it a try--perhaps it will make a difference--here's links:

No you can buy songs online now for $0.99 and then just burn them as a audio CD. Or if you already have existing MP3s then burn them as a audio CD yourself on a good quality CD-R and you'll get 120+ of your favorite tracks.
You can also rip certain tracks out of existing CDs and combine them with others to make a Audio CD. Thats what I've been doing.
BUT I do wish I had MP3 capability!!!!

Totally agree, I had the Jamie Cullum in my CD drive and on MP3 encoded at 320 and there is quitte an obvious difference between the two. The MP3 has all the lows and all the highs, but it just doesn't spund as smooth and open as the CD.
I have been using a Mark Levinson 36 Dac at home recently, and now it has gone I can't tell you what is missng from the overall sound, but I know I prefered it with it in the system. It is the difference between right and wrong.
