My Ride: 2006 E60 530 xi six speed manual/Silver gray-auburn/18inch-style123wheels/premium sound and package/HUD/PDC/sport/coldpackage/Sirius/M-aero kit/Nav/comfortseats/shades/comfort access
tires: 245 40 18 Sottozero Pirelli winters (non runflats)
2004 RX330 Lexus - crystal white - reliable, quiet, and the "beater" car for ski trips, hauling, etc.
1995 E34 540i 6 speed black/truffle interior/alpinemp3/XMradio/M5 alloys (Many tears...sold to a fellow Boston bimmer enthusiast!)
I recently got into a friend's new A4 Avant - and was sharing the details of my new 530 xi - Idrive, mp3 player, when he pushes a button and his screen opens up, to show me TWO ONE GIG SMART DISK MEMORY CARD SLOTS -
So I've been trumped by a $40,000 VW and my $60,000 530xi only plays mp3 cd's in one slot - and he's got two gigs of music!
absolutely disgusting.
When are we going to see full IPOD compatibility with Idrive so I can finally hold my head up next to my friend up and say, yes, BMW is a great driving car AND is technologically in touch with its sophisticated owners who expect a lot more!
OK, so going from my friend's A4 and getting into my E60 - sure, there is no comparison to the feel, solidity, and quality of this car compared with an overpriced VW but the mp3/ipod issue is really ridiculous.
IMHO.....

Seriously! It sucks! a cheap 20K car has MP3 capability but a $60+K car doesnt. BMW is dissappointing me more and more. Its not like MP3 is brand new technology anyways... my car soooooooooooooooo should have it. 2005 man! I'm not asking for Blue Ray DVD Audio or anything fancy now am I?

GREAT ! tell me more about ti (PM me if you need) , never been an Audi fan ,and recently
taken interest in them. my question is when will they fit the variable ratio 40:60 quattro that
is found in the RS4... in all the reviews of the RS4 , they claim that this will be put into the s-series
soon. I think its on the new s6??? s4 being the obvious choice, i would like it to have the 40:60
and be more playful
Also do you think that it will be a downgrade from the e60 5 series for you? what do you think image
wise

can you ask him which option is this ? its not in teh price list for the s4 ???
s8 is tooooooooooo... expensive . With my budget it has to be something
simpler and for a younger person.. .like the m3 was
anyways i dont have much time if i want to dissapoint my bmw dealer
and cancel my order again

They already have... the S4 25quattro its limited production for the US but its available... Downgrade from the E60? Maybe... but I like how it looks. S6 is a little duller to me. I LOVE the previous generations RS6 though... but if I were to pay the RS6 price might as well get a M5. Need to find a car thats just as much fun as the 545 but not cost too much more, less is better hehe Doesnt matter its not anytime soon... Unless I win the lotto then I'm jumping into Ferrari territory straight away! As for the S4 Maybe when the warranty expires for the E60... hehe I said next car will be an Audi didnt mean now. I'm not bored with the E60 yet. Its still new to me.
Who knows... maybe the new E class will catch my eye...
