electronic meaning there is a sensor that when worn down to a certain point will show up on your display as 'brake service required' type warning. It looks like this.

to the op if you done brakes before on a car in the past, brakes are very easy to do on a BMW. If you have not done brakes before and not mechanically inclined go to a facility to have them done.
Have you tried getting your brakes hot yet?
Getting them hot will burn many of the contaminates away.
I do not generally recommend power washing the brakes as the power washer will tend to wash away the lube in the sliders possibility making a new noise that will require you to remove the pads to lube the sliders.
Have you taken at look at the brake pads to see how much pad is left?

I had the same issue on my 2004 525i but was due for new pads anyways. I was also advised that I needed to change my rotors (60k miles). I went with R1 Concepts E-line(drilled and slotted) with Posi Quiet ceramic pads. All I can say is daaaamn what a difference overall. First off, I saved like $600 vs going to the dealership/bmw mechanic. Stock rotors and pads are expensive and not sure why as there are lots of aftermarket brands that perform just as well if not better. Once I changed out all rotors and pads, the noise went away, the dust was no more, and the braking power was great. The biggest difference I noticed was dust. I used clean my wheels every other day but now don't have to clean them until the next wash. Also, the drill slotted rotors looks and performs great. Here's a link to R1 concept where I ordered them from. I dealt with James T. (ext 7014) who was great at recommendations and followed up with me after I received the shipment.

I have a squeal that happens when i barely push the accelerator...i can hear a squeal, but only at a certain point of pushing the accelerator. its very annoying when going 20-25 and you have to barely push the accelerator to stay at the speed. anyone know what could cause this? its not squeal due to stopping, even though i do get that as well. just wanted to see if anyone had this problem.
