I had major repair only work done on my car. Took several days including time for insurance adjuster to get by to get explaination on special issues with aluminum chassis repairs. Loaner was provided by BMW free to the best of my knowledge as the estimate from BMW to insurance provider was parts, labor, taxes, no rental. Insurance would have provided rental coverage if I had requested it, but since BMW provided loaner I made no such claim. Just differences in dealers.

I just got done with a several day repair and recieved a rental, then a X3  from the dealer. As long as you ask, they will provide at my dealer.

Also, they are very concerned about custumer service there. They want to make sure they "get all 5's" when the phone survey people call. I would have to imagine that BMWNA is behind the surveys. A few 1's and the dealer will hear about it from BMWNA I'm sure.

I have sort of a deal with my service rep. You take care of me and I will report all 5's on the BMW custormer service telephone interview rating. And, when I make an appointment to get work done on my car, I always first ask what day will be best for me to bring my car in so I can get a loaner. Whether I qualify for one or not is never discussed or considered. Works everytime.

Just had my style 125 wheels (and tires shipped in from tirerack) mounted and balanced yesterday. "elective procedure" Drove the dealers X3 all day and it only cost me a fillup.

If you spend money at the dealer(not just warenty work), and give them "5" on the phone survey they will be more likely to provide you with a loaner.
