What Software Version was it?
I also noticed this on my upgrade. I believe I have 20.02. My car does not have Nav and the screen goes away on its own. Now, if only they could figure out how to keep my RDS box enabled for more than a week at a time.

I got my '06 530xiT back from the dealership with 23.X progman flashed.

1. Good news: The 'Lawyer Screen' (a USA feature  )now dissapears by itself after a 10 second interval after bootup (and I have a Nav system)!

Bad news:
It still stays there 10 seconds, even if you are in a rush to get going. When you put car in reverse, the PDC gong sounds when one is to close to something, but until the Lawyer Screen clears - one cannot see if the offending object is to the front or rear.
Solution: Have the PDC screen override the Lawyer Screen or provide 'patience' pills to all drivers - those behind the wheel or in the backseat.

Hmmm... interesting.

My e60 PDC audio warnings emit different frequency sounds to differentiate front and rear proximity.

I'm also pretty sure the PDC audio comes from the "offending" corner (or the audio mixes accordingly if the obstructiion is more central)...

Yes I can confirm that. If the offending object is in the rear, you clearly hear the sound from the rear and whichever side, and vice versa with the front... Is there two different versions of PDC?

Just noticed this! Am so accustomed to the PDC light and sound show, I didn't even notice the evaporating lawyer!

Cheers,

It's a software issue, not NAV non-NAV.

I hacked mine so that in stead of the lawyer screen it starts up my gaming consol. I can either start a game of pong, Donkey Kong, or Space Invaders. I have not gotten really far with either game cause I have to keep taking my hands off the stearing wheel to play and game and vice versa.
