About 4-5 weeks ago driving down the freeway to work I guess I hit a rock that punctured my AC condenser. I didn't even realize it till I got to work and saw steam coming out of the hood. At first glance I thought it was the transmission cooler since I saw steam coming from that area. So I called up my local BMW dealership to see if they can diagnose and find out what exactly happened. I wasn't sure if BMW or the warranty company would cover whatever happened. I dropped my car off on a Thursday glad they had a loaner on hand since I was going out of town for the weekend and saved me some $$$ of renting a car to go down to southern California to visit some friends. On Friday the SA calls me up and tells me that there is a puncture in my AC condenser and they also found 1 of the bolts from the head cracked putting pressure on the other 3 bolts and that needs to get replaced as well. He tells me he's going to go head and call my warranty company because they don't cover AC condenser. He calls me later that day and tells me that they will send out a tech from the warranty company the following wed to inspect the car. I start stressing thinking they will not cover the AC condenser as well. I look over my paper work and start reading it front and back. If anyone out there ever read their warranty agreement it feels like they don't cover anything but the engine and transmission. I start reading the stuff they don't cover and I see "AIR CONDITIONING REFRIGERANT" I'm thinking dang they are not going to cover it!!! But at the same time that can be interpreted as not including ac condeser . I did some research online on couple threads on different bmw forums where either BMW or the warranty company denied the claim. Wednesday after noon comes, SA calls me up and tells me warranty company will indeed cover the ac condenser plus replacement of all head bolts!! . Parts are ordered and work begins, while working on the car I guess they found I had a leaky eccentric shaft sensor. SA called the warranty company and asked them to authorize for a new sensor , warranty company again authorized the part to be ordered. The SA called me after and told me what was going on. All this time I had the loaner which I didn't mind as long as everything was being squared away with my car. 2 weeks later SA calls me up to come pick up the car. When I get to the dealership and look at the invoice the sa tells me as a courtesy they included a free alignment . So far I have been very satisfied with "UNITED AUTO CARE".

I have an aftermarket warranty and so far they have been good. They covered my AC blower and recently my thermostat.

How long how you guys had these warranties and how much in real money have you saved vs. what the warranty cost you? Still trying to determine if I should buy a 3/yr, 24Kmiles warranty.

To note: during the last month before the CPO expired, my car had the Heating/AC blower regulator, final stage blower resistor, blower motor, radiator, thermostat, and compensator replaced under CPO (pretty lucky, huh?).

I've had my warranty ever since the car was purchased some 3 1/2yrs ago it had about 47k on the odometer. Now the odometer reads 72k and I'm glad I purchased it back then. I would say personally I've saved about 1500-2000 in repairs.

You got pretty damn lucky! The SA told me I got real lucky getting the AC condenser replaced for free. He told me BMW warranty would not have covered my AC condenser.
