Wanting to get some feedback on the 18" Dunlop SP01 DSST tires. I have 8500 miles on mine and the wider rears look like I will get 15k tops out of them. Debating on whether to stay with these (over $300 each at Tire Rack) or to go with conventional tires. On my previous E39 530 I had the Pilot Primacy (OEM, hated them), SO3 Pole positions (great ride, 25k miles but got noisy last 10k), and Yokohama AVS 100 (good handling, very noisy, only 12k miles). Had Pirelli P6 at the end just to have something with decent tread to turn the car in with, they are crap. Fred Flintstone tires would have handled better.

Interesting to hear what some of you are thinking or if you have already replaced the OEM runflats what did you do it with and where did you get them. If I go with conventionals I am leaning to the S03 again, the Pilot Sports, or the new Goodyears F1's that seem to be getting great reviews.

i replaced mine with P-Zero, so far so good, no complaints, noise or anything like you had mentioned. although mine's not a daily driver so there might be some difference as far as tread wear. good luck

The Dunlop Run Flats are OK. I only rode on them for about 1000 miles and my impressions are : They brake loose too easly and noisy plus they are very heavy )i weighted the rim and tire for an almost 60lbs!!). I had the SO3 and men, those are the best tires but a bit heavy. The Yoko Es100s are less expensive, good overall handling but htey tend to wear fast and get noisy. I heard good reviews about the Toyo T1s but had no chance to buy them yet. Now I have the Pirelli Pzero, They are very quiet and handling is OK. I have been able to braking loose a couple times. But so far so good.

I find the stock Dunlop's not as grippy as I would have liked. Will defiantely change them to Bridgestone Potenzas S-03. These IMHO are the best tires though the wear on them is not the greatest. They offer excellent dry-summer traction and great wet traction as well.

Try the MICHELIN Pilot SPORT PS2 (Pilot Sport 2) tires then you'll see why is MICHELIN considered the best tire manufacturer in the world. They are much lighter than Bridgestone's and offer an incredible steering reponse plus they preserve good riding comfort and very reduced noise.

Thanks, just read the comparison of the PS2's versus the others. Looks impressive although they do not yet have them in either my front or rear sizes. Hopefully by another 8-10k miles they will be available.

For those of you in the uk - the place to buy your Michelin's is COSTCO.
You need an I/D to get in ( eg Business, NHS, Airline, Dentist or whatever) - but the prices are trulyunbeatable!

Another tire to consider is the Falken Azenis ST115. I had them installed on my E39 530 last year. I was very impressed by the quiet ride and good handling. The tire apparently has microcapsule technology that sucks up road noise. Got them for about $108/tire at tires.com. I had no problems with them for 15000 miles, I traded my E39 and got E60.
