Not to be negative, but forewarned is forearmed...
That motor has a couple of well-known leak spots - the valve cover gasket and the oil filter housing gasket. But don't panic - you can easily do both yourself with a few tools. And if the cooling system is all original, it's high time to replace a few bits, such as expansion tank, the big hoses, thermostat, water pump. All easy stuff, not high $$$, and you can do it all with a pair of ramps. If you do plan to DIY, a Bentley manual will be your best friend.

Well then you're a braver soul than many, including myself. Tinted windows definitely keep interior temps much lower than they would be without tint. BMW did partially address the issue with window blinds, but unfortunately they stopped when they got to the front doors. Thankfully the PO of my car finished the job for me.

I was already thinking that the thermostat needed to be replaced. The heat isn't working too well. I am planning on purchasing a warranty ASAP though so repairs shouldn't be too much of a concern.

I also have an 04 530i and my bro showed me how to make the bluetooth work. I bought a newer build date motorola bluetooth control module which installs into the trunk. Part #8411-6948921. Make sure it had a build date of after June 2004 for full capability. Then I had my local shop re-code the car for bluetooth support. I use an iPhone 5 with it. One issue is the SOS error, search it on the forum to find out how to remove the SOS service. I am going back to the shop to delete the SOS.

I was reading a prior post outlining the correct way to basically have your car deem the SOS inoperable. At the end of the day, who really uses it anyway, after warranty expiration?
Do you know of a shortcut way to remove the error without re-coding every module linked to audio/tel devices? I spent an eternity at the shop with the tech looking through his autologic system trying to figure it out.
