i'm new to this forum, and to message boards as well.
what's RF?? (serious question)
RF refers to the roadfly.org message board which was founded in 1996 or 1997 by my friend Alan Riley.

It's grown immensely but today has many posters who like to beat up on each other rather than share information.

FWIW, in the world of BMW lexicon the word "beemer" refers to BMW bikes. The word "bimmer" refers to BMW automobiles.

What I find interesting is the fact that the 545 is outselling the 540 by a significant margin in the US. I'm not sure what to conclude from that but would like to hear the opinions of others.

Regarding roadfly, the people who run that board have obvious biases against the styling direction BMW has taken and treat those who like the design as second class citizens. That attitude will quickly introduce them to the bankruptcy court or a significantly smaller customer base. I would recommend a boycott of that site. They are not our friends.

A few reasons why sales are down compare to 03 june sales

1) Last year If I'm not wrong BMW was giving up to $3500 in incentives to sell those E39 and a lot of people took advantage of that.

2) Very cheap lease deals were giving last year on those E39

3) Lack of M5 and station wagon ( touring model )

4) A lot of people heard about the new 3.0 engine comming out soon so they are waiting to get the new engine instead of getting the good old 3.0

5) Also BMW will introduce bluetooth technology later this year so there is more people waiting for that to happen before buying

6) The 6 series is out so some people like my boss at work was going to buy a 545 now wants to buy a 645. Not that the 645 is stealing that much sales from the E60 but i'm pretty sure a few guys are doing so.

Last but not least. Global sales of the E60 are very strong and at the end of the year it will have sold more car than what the E39 did back in 1997 on it's first year.

I'll add my 2 cents on this Forum vs RF... This board is a great tool for existing and new E60 (and other 5 products) let's continue to keep it that way! Alot of us share info for a reason... because the crowd here is clued in or folks want to absorb the info. If we start "dumbing" down the posts then I for one will stop posting...

For your weekly dose of stupidity, RF is a great place to visit!
