A while back, an 2004 530i non sport pkg owner was posting his complains on every E60 board including Edmunds about the cross wind (stability), wind noise issue. All of sudden, no more posting from this owner.

To the existing 2004 5 serie owners:

Is this problem real? or just an isolated problem?

I believe the 2004 5 serie should be extremely stable and quiet at high speed (>80 mph) even with cross wind.

I hit a half dozen of these e60 forums a day and he was the only one I have seen posting with this problem. It certainly does not effect my car.

Could you post a comprehensive list of E60 forums for those of us new to this?

Thanks

Bimmer forums, Roadfly, GermanCarFans, BMW board, bimmerfest, that should keep you reading for a while.

Jewels530i - Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I did not see other people having that issue. The owner is claiming that he test drove other 530i on the dealer lot in Florida and experienced the same problem.

An article on USA Today, the reviewer drove through windy weather caused by Hurricane Isabel and had no problem.

There were other 545 owners (European Delivery - U.S. specs) drove high speed on autobahn and reported the drive is awesome.

I think if this was the issue he was saying it was you wouldn't have to look for it. It would be all over these forums. I am on my second e60 and neither had this. Both were driven in high winds at and above the speeds he was talking about. If you haven't been to those other forums you might want to peruse them. Despite some very critical people who have examined the car in the most minute detail and found fault with a great many things, not one complaint have I seen about this. Except for that one fellow.

I have a 525 and have noticed a vast improvement with cross wind stability compared to the previous E39 version.

same here (525i), maybe the wind noise is a bit higher than I expected for a car of this price.
