....the build quality of a BMW interior is head and shoulders above the Jag and the Audi.
Maybe the Jag, but the Audi ?

Of course... to me, the Audi interior is really not "all that". The door panels, quality of the leather, switch gear, etc. is not on a par with BMW - especially when you compare an A4 to a 3-Series. The A6 is a little better, but not much. To me, it feels like an "old man's car" and the interior is part of that. Like I said, it's all personal opinion at the end of the day, but that's how I feel. Others may think differently and that's fine...

Mercedes have become Chryslers, Jags have become Fords but BMW's are still German made Sport Sedans!
Not exactly true:

Chris Bangle is an American.
The 3 series (and I'm pretty sure the X series) are made in Spartansburg SC.
The 5 series (not the E60) used to be built in S. Africa, which by the way also makes the 3.

That's cool.

I'd only give BMW interiors an advantage in terms of style. And IMO the LCI versions are better than the non LCI.

Currently, only the Z4 and the X5 are built in Spartanburg, SC. The X6 and next gen X3 will be built there.
The E39 & E60 were/are only built in Dingolfing. 5 million 5s per their website: http://www.bmw-plant-dingolfing.com/dingol...m/en/index.html
I believe the 3 series for certain markets and certain 3er parts for all markets is the only thing built in South Africa.

You are right about the current SC production. However, the 3 series was produced there when the plant was opened in 1994. The Z and X models weren't released until several years later.

As for the S.Africa plant - I do remember pricing a 540i back in 2002 when I was in the states and I noticed on the sticker the car was assembled there. But I can't find a solid reference to support my claim.

I have driven both cars, and actually recently placed my order for a 535i. Obviously this is a BMW forum, but I will try to be as objective as possible...

...I think the BMW engine is more efficient, getting 300HP from a V6, rather than a V8.
If you really want an efficient V6 engine with 300+hp you need to go with Lexus or Infiniti. BMW does not build them.

Fuel economy for the NA Lexus/Infiniti V6 are almost identical to the BMW I6 TT.

But the 535i boast an additional ~25 lb-ft tq.

I'm confused... Are you saying that using a V8 to generate 300HP is more efficient than using a V6 to generate 300HP? Perhaps you should buy a Mustang?

Umm... You do realize that BMW does not have a V6??? And you even HAVE a 6-cylinder BMW and aren't catching on!
