It's only when the faithful start to leave that BMW will get their act together.
I givbe them one more shot. If this car also has problems, I will never drive BMW again.

Anyway, some issues he acknowledged, some he told me are just "normal". I still disagree.
They kept the car for yet another software update and I have a loaner now (2006 530xi, this car has an incredible amout of creaks, much worse than mine. The front windshield sounds like an old ship).
I have decided to trade my car in (they offered me a decent deal) and to order a 6 speed manual 330i tomorrow. Its time for me to move on.
I dove the 330i and liked it a lot. The front room is basically equivalent to th E60. Am I making a mistake?
I'll buy luxurious when I will retire....

Hi drjochen, good luck for you, better to stay with BMW and that is luxurious, still do not buy why ppl are so "mad" about a US-Nissan???? but every ppl have their own cup of tea.

I skipped E90 that wud be more reasonable and less cheaper for me even if fully opted, But that was the best decision we made (both wife prefered the E60, listen to wise women always) in the end the reason was skipping the 3er that the room in the front for me (driver), but if for you it is sufficient you will have a lot of FUN with a small, light car doped with 3L engine

If you don't care about the back seat, the 330i manual is a great choice. I hope BMW can make you happy. Sorry your 545 was a pain. (Between the automatic problems and the SMG problems, I'm glad I got my manual. Sad that I have to say that, because it's not like the other transmissions are cutting-edge, experimental technologies -- BMW just hasn't gotten them right.)

Well, as long as you don't need the cargo space of the e60 or the power of the V8 (the torque and pull from this motor I think is the only thing you'll miss), then you should be just fine.

Good to hear that the dealer at least gave you an acceptable trade-in price.

Oh! Almost forgot...BMW builds one solid manual transmission. You will love driving once again.

E90 330 is a cracking car - I don't think you'll be dissapointed.

IMO e60 is also a great car - let down by some ill conceived and implemented technical b*llsh*t.

I'm happy to live with that, but I don't blame you for moving on given the problems you've endured.

Good luck with the 330 - glad you haven't given up on bimmers.

Now you think I have lost it: I was at the delaer to order my e90 and the owner stepped in and offered me a 2007 530i at dealer cost with an additional allowance from BMW, which would basically bring the cost of the 530i down substantially. Hell, what am I supposed to do now? I finally got the e90 swallowed and now this...

Give it one more shot. Get the 530. I'm sure you had a bad lemon with your 545 thats all it was. the 07 is a lot better.

Please do yourself a favor and get the 530, even though you went thru hell with the other E60, it dosent mean a thing, this happens with ALL cars now and then. I think if you dont get the 530, you will regret it down the road.

I'm recommending you go with the 330. For two reasons
1. Time for something different
2. You will never be happy with the power of the 6 after having the 8. Try and get them to give you the same deal on the 330 they were offering on the 530 - I don't see why they wouldn't.

Good luck.

The e90 is a first year production car ... same as your e60!

I would go with the '07 530!
