iphone/cable/armrest question (yes I have searched)

Default iphone/cable/armrest question (yes I have searched)

How do you route the iphone/ipod interface cable from deep inside the armrest past that plastic flip-up compartment (not the leather lid) ? If you have to remove the flip-up compartment, what's the trick?

I simply bought an iPod Nano that was left in the center console... Will not drain the battery so the only time it saw the light of day was to add new music.

As for the flip-up compartment, I had two E60's and never found a good way to remove it without taking apart the center console. Just went with the dedicated iPod.

This is what I did: The flip up compartment has four screws at the bottom and can be taken apart. I made a slot in the bottom piece, another slot in the top piece, and then put the two halves back together. The cable can now be snaked through the slots into the flip up plastic compartment. Here are some pictures:
