Question

First of all....Increased Emissions before I replaced the EGR Valve/Termostat.
Replaced the EGR Valve, got the code reset by the stealer.... The code disappeared for an hour. Parked the car...code still not present.... Ate dinner....Started the car and *plong* the Increased Emissions popped up on my Idrive again.
I have searched thru all the threads regarding this on diesel engines. Please help!
Had my car serviced today, the dealer reset the codes and said that the car was working properly. I drove the car for ten seconds and the light popped up again on the Idrive. When the dealer reset the error codes he listed two for me:

Error Code 4501 : Unknown
Error Code 4166 : Particle Filter System Emissions something....

Can you please help me with this??

Sounds EGR related, i am assuming the the EGR is connected correctly. The link below mentions the 4501 code for an e38, but the code is EGR related.

E38 codes

I just got a 2005 BMW 545i about a month ago. Today, I was driving normally and my service engine light came on. Then, iDrive popped up a notification that it was increased emissions / emissions malfunction.

Hoping it's nothing serious. What did you have to get done to fix yours, or is it still an ongoing issue?

Still ongoing. Just received the swirl flap blanking plates in the mail. Hope it is related to this....
