Rudy, you would make a good couch coach. You are generous and wise ... it's good to give sc/rwb a chance to reform. After all, he is the guy that brought us the transmission reset procedure, and that shoud be worth something.

The charger densifies the airmix, which in the process of densifying heats up. The mix then goes through the intercooler, to be cooled down again for higher density and more oxygen molecules, for a better combustion and reduce consumption and emissions.
So the intercooler already does the cool air job. Nevertheless, cold ambient air should aid the intercooler in its job and with the air being colder to start with, you'll also see turbodiesels performing a little better with cold air. (cold air sensed by MAF = more fuel from ECU)

Without the extra heaters modern turbo Diesels have they would take ages to warm up in the winter, as the cold ambient temperatures would keep the temperature of the exhaust gasses down for a very long time. If you then add using the cabine heater etc., you'd drive many many miles with a cold car.
