i could be "losing it" but I swear that the other day I went into the iDrive screens as follows:

Push down for "i" menu > Display Settings > Brightness

once on the brightness screen it was set default i.e halfway so i notched up (increased) by two bars on the scale.

today i was driving home and thought maybe the screen needed to be a bit brighter, went to same menu and it had reset back to default, i.e back in the middle again.

do you have todo something to "save" the new setting ? when I set it again tonight, after i notched it up 2 bars i pressed down on the iDrive controller just in case that "sets" it.

haven't noticed any other settings being lost, maybe i didn't actually change the setting in the first place....be interesting to check when i get back in the car tomorrow am.

I don't have that problem. My brightness setting is remembered by idrive...

not to ask a silly question, but were you using the same key?

thx for the replies guys.

i'll try the same key test and report back.

i think it would be boring if everything worked too well, i kind of like the E60's little quirks keeps it interesting

well, technically NM, that would be an e60 driver quirk, not a car quirk --- it is called rtfm!!

The "other" key always gets you. I could not figure out why my radio stations were deleted.

ok you smart lot i tried your "different key causes the settings to reset" theory and that didn't hold any water. used the same key for last 3 days now and each morning i check the idrive screen brightness setting and it has gone back to defualt.

will get the dealer to check this one out when car goes in on wednesday and let you know if they know whats going on.
