After replacing those vanos o-rings with the teflon ones, i do actually noticed increased performance. It's more pedal-responsive and it moves. I like it!
Wondering what else I can do...any more seals/o-rings on this vehicle?
<div></div><div>ok i forgot to update about the fix...you see the flap? well it's supposed to stay 'opened' and is closed electronically. There is a part that looks as if there is supposed to be a nut inside of it. Just look at the bottom of the flap. What I did was I opened from the bottom with a flathead screwdriver and the yellow piece comes right out as soon as you loosen the lock washer from the mechanical arm. I affixed a self tap bit with a perfectly sized head that would fit right into the flap in the hole with the nut sticking out so the flap could rest on it..... and fitted it to test. After I verified all fit correctly I put epoxy (JB Weld) in it then put it back together and let it sit 24 hours. After verifying its strenght and integrity I sealed the flap AND the outer walls of the arms with RTV gasket sealant and let it dry for about an hour. I made sure everything fit and lined up and then I threw it back in.....put the car back together and voila! Vroom vroom!</div>

Hi, I have a 2004 525i, It sounds like i have the same problem you did but am not sure. My check engine "increased emission" light came on when i was driving and now my engine has rough idle and i can kinda hear a air leak in the engine's left side and also when i turn it off i can hear a real loud air leak. autzone read the code and it was "vacuum leak". can you help me? thank you

That site with the teflon seals only addresses 6 cylinder engines. I have a v8. Are the vanos similar? I know the v8 is a double setup but are the problems the same?
