I actually drove a genesis and I would say it's build quality and interior design is on par with BMW and surpasses the Mercedes e class (2004-2008) and new c class

I think the Hyundai Genesis is a really good car. I rented a Genesis for three weeks when my E36 318i was in the shop. I was so impressed with the Genesis? performance, spaciousness and build quality, that I went out and bought the E60.
Why are people offended that Hyundai dares to compare their cars to the almighty Bavarian MotorWerks? Are you guys stockholders? Are you holding BMW debt or what? Don?t take it personally; you?re not your car. I?m happy that Hyundai is pushing BMW from the less expensive end of the market. This will only force BMW to continue producing premium cars with good value for the money.
If you want a really good car at a very good price, get a Hyundai. But, if you?re fortunate and can afford a great car at a fair price, get the Bimmer.

"More Horsepower than a BMW 528i
That?s not a misprint. The Hyundai Sonata?s newly updated Lambda V6 boasts more horsepower than ever ? a whopping 249 to be exact ? 19 more than its Bavarian counterpart. And what?s more amazing, it achieves this feat while delivering improved fuel economy. How does this engine provide such scintillating performance? All-aluminum block and heads, Continuously Variable Valve Timing, dual overhead camshafts, 4-valves per cylinder and a variable intake system."

Few thoughts. Never compare a korean car to a german car. The sonata costs $20k the 528i cost $50k. Hyundai Sonata is a great car if you want to be a few at once. The front end is ripped from Mercedes. The side is ripped form Lexus. The back looks like the BMW 550i GT.

BMW's own internal dealer briefing materials for the E9X M3 spent half their time focusing on comparisons with Porsche.
Every manufacturer, other than the true high end exotics , focuses on their higher-priced more premium competition. BMW does it, Porsche does it too (comparing the Panamera to the Aston Martin Rapide and the Maserati Quattroporte, for example, claiming better price/performance).
It is the oldest advertising play in the book, it works for the target market, and it's not worth getting upset about.
If you don't like the Hyundai, don't buy one.
