Does anyone here have experience with the night vision option?

Its kind of like 4WD - expensive and won't be used very much. But the one time you DO use it and it helps you avoid a bad situation it's definitely worth it.

For the F10 HUD also shows warnings from BMW Night Vision with pedestrian recognition. This would make Night Vision much more user friendly.

I have it on my E60 which I bought 2nd hand. In my opinion, it is a complete waste of money. I've used it for no more than 10 minutes most of which was just to show my friends to impress them (good to impress people but rubbish practically). It is supposed to be used like a rear view mirror so you just give it a quick glance now and again. This makes it useless on many roads because I think the visibility you have through the windscreen is much better than the night vision. It may provide better results on the country roads.

Anyway, it was already spec'd up on my car so I don't think it added much to the 2nd hand price of the car. I wouldn't pay any money for this option although I haven't used the newer night vision as that could be more practical.

Had experienced one on a loaner for a few days and agree with the poster above me.. pointless and waste of money IMO.
I would even say its more of a saftey hazard than anything else since you have to take your eyes off the road to look at the idrive screen.
Furthermore the image details is very poor.
