Damn,

I just re-newed the tags and it was $615 and some change..... I need to move .......

You somehow got the ripoff. My wife owns a DMV service here (9 years) and she said your renewal should have been about $360.00. She just looked it up on the DMVNV website.

Wow I thought NV would be similar to CA.

NV = Approximately 400.00 per 20k the first year, then goes down about 15% the first year and 10% each year.

It's because newer cars cause more damage to the roads.....

no,

it's because newer cars use the roads more often.....

no,

ok, for real, it's because if you can afford a newer car then the state needs to "redistribute" your wealth to pay for busses for all of those who spend every penny they earn on crack and meth so they don't have a car to drive.

Also, your wealth is needed to pay for health care for the uninsured illegal immigrants that total your car and hurt themselves in the process.

Obama's America has already begun.

Welcome to it.

Damn, that sucks. I will say that tag and taxes on my '08 GMC Yukon XL Denali are INSANE!!

However, i dont have to pay taxes or insurance for our two bimmers.

The are company tags, therefore company pays for it!!

Generally you guys are cheaper than us. (which surprised me because I used to live on CA and everything seemed expensive)

When I lived in California, renewal of your registration was a few hundred bucks. In New York, it's maybe $50 or so. It's rather cheap, compared to other states.

My wife just registered a 2008 motorhome for $12,851.00. (twelve thousand eight hundred and fifty-one dollars) That was for TAGS ONLY for 1 year ONLY. Taxes had already been paid.

On the flip side my house is (was) worth 4 times the value of my best friend's house in South Dakota, but we pay the exact same property taxes.
AND we don't have any corporate or state income taxes.

This year it was $57, next year I'm expecting around $800-900 since in Bama tags are pro rated for the year.
Main reason I register my cars in Florida.....they rape you here in Jefferson County. In Florida it's 28 bucks....at least in Okaloosa County.
Where in B-ham are you?

Yes, that's one of the perks of living in Las Vegas. Unfortunately for us that live in Nassau County, Long Island, we pay some of highest property taxes in the country. It's insane, but the public schools are some of the best in the entire country. That's what you're paying for.
