Hi everyone!!

Now that mp3s are working on most of our cars with Nav Pro, would anyone know whether if we can display full filenames on playing and non-playing mp3 files in the list of our i-drive screen? the underscore patterns are a bit weird looking, and I heard if you ID tag your mp3s, then should show the name and artist that is currently playing, but others will still have the messy-looking capital letters and underscoring. Any way of correcting that? thanks again everyone!!

This is discussed in many places. Mine, show long filenames, and as all my MP3's have ID3 tags, I can see all info in all my burned DVDs.

What settings are you using for burning your discs? Also what tools are you using?

thanks for answering me big_ipaq!!
I am using Nero and tried both "create mp3" and "create data CD", and both ways, I get filenames in list where they show capital letters... for example "AMERIE_1_THING", but when the file is in play mode, it shows:
01 Amerie
1 Thing
but the other files in list still show the capital letters and underscores...
is there a way of having the other filenames showing proper appearances? thanks!!!

OK. it's entirely about ID3 tags. I guess your mp3 file is called: AMERIE_1_THING.mp3, is this correct?

Or is it called: amerie_1_thing.mp3?

I originally named the file as "Amerie - 1 Thing", but it is coming out as "AMERIE___1_THING" while it is not playing but listed in the i-drive... I went into properties for that file, and filled out the artist and title, so now while it is playing, it displays Artist name and underneath, it shows Title of song. However, the other titles still shows the NAMES and UNDERSCORING... can I correct those that are not played as well? Is it under Nero? if so, what features do I need to change in there? thanks again!!

Very odd. Can you do the following?

Use WinAmp Pro or another tool and rip one of your original CDs. Using WinAmp Pro defaults will fill everything in ID3 tags and also name the files very well. Then use Nero to burn, and make a picture of how iDrive screen looks like.

Where you located? Is iDrive language English?

Requires CIP 20 I believe. I've tested both 1.1 and 2.x formats with the same 8 character results.
