bene60, when you got your 525 with the new engine, did you order it with the new engine or did you buy the ones that were available from the inventory? I haven't really been following the history of the E60 so I want to ask when the new engine for the 525 was available for the rest of the world compared to Hong Kong. Also, since my family is still hestitating of whether to get the 545 since the 550 should be coming out soon, do you guys think it will be stupid for us to buy it now? Since some people say that a big discount will be available when the 550 come out and that I'll be getting a less powerful engine. Lastly, do you guys think that the price of the 550 will be increased from the 545?

I would wait for the 550i. I heard from a friend who tested the 750il that the 750 is so much more powerful than the 745 he's driving right now. Its also much smoother. Also, there is a rumour in this forum saying that the Sep manufactured E60s will have the push button start as standard and comfort access (keyless entry) as an option. Wait for it my friend. You won't regret it. Right hand drive countries should be able to receive theirs the same time as the left hand drive countries; we in SIN should get ours by late November; Hongkong is no different.

Thanks for your reply, but the interesting thing is that the dealers that I have been talking to are telling me that they have still not heard anything about the 550 until the 2006 models (which I guess will be manufactured in January). Therefore I am wondering if they are lying to me about this.

FYI, my friend bought one of their last stock of old engine 525 with huge discount $85000 and the sales told my friend that there would be no engine change!! (actually my friend wanted the new engine than the huge discount because they bought it last Dec which means they bought a 2004 car at the end of 2004, the resale value will not be as good as new engine 2005 car) So you know what they will do for 545 then.
Also the new engine 2005 525 has the same retail price as the old engine 2004 525.
Good luck.

[/quote]Sure! I will take some pictures after work tomorrow, the weather was horrible yesterday. Hope there will be some sunny/clear break tomorrow. I was fed up with the rainy June.

Don't know if you've got friends with the 745. Try theirs and then go for a test drive in the 750. I'm sure you'll want to wait for the 550 after that.
