I switched to bmw synthetic w40 last time, its great value. might try the 5w30 next time.
I tyring the BMW stuff right now and hate it.
It gets think very fast and my km\l is now down to 6.7 way too low.
only getting about 420km from a full tank now on vpower that means its about $2.5 per km
now I know why that BMWHK dont use this stuff

I will try this next oil change

I like a guy saying this "get more HP is there is less lubricant coating the parts"
for many of us who care if it has less lubricant coating the parts, we all sell the car after 3 to 4 years any way
or are you going to drive your car till death, if so then best to use BMW stuff as it is there brand.
BTW do MB sell there own brand oil like BMW?

that statement is clearly technically wrong anyway so you cant believe everything yuo read on the internet. despite that, there are a lot of good info on that thread.

ps, you do know some people here bought their e60 2nd hand and 1 member had driven his e60 round the clock.

thats interesting observation, it might be slightly worse but I myself havent noticed a too drastic increase in fuel consumption (from the mileage clocked between gas station visit).

anyway, after reading the other thread, I might give motul or shell helix a try. the problem w motul is that it is not bmw approved so need to change oil sooner to be on the safe side.
