Guys, hv u read today's Apple Daily yet? There is a fully mod 545i featured. That's the car I saw a few months back. Quite cool isn't it? The only thing I dont like is the Altezza style white out tail light.

Funny the breakdown list says the M steering wheel only costs $5.5k....hmmm I wonder where he got it or is it a typo

For those who are driving around with 16" and looking for replacement. Go to http://www.sunhingmotor.com.hk and look under the used section, they have a style 138 rim for sell 17" from 525i although they listed it as 15". $7,000 is what most shop charge for that set of rim so is reasonable.

Thanks for your info ACS5,

I think I am the only one here still using the original rims comes with 523 ,

I would like to change my original wheels (Style 115) to those 18" later on, sill considering Style 123/124/135

do you know what's the price different between them? and how much I got to pay that for new/used one?

and side effect for doing this except the fuel consumption? eg. do I need to mod the suspension?

Not quite sure about the price difference, but those new 18" wheels will cost you around 6000 each without tires and I am sure the 124 and 135 will be more expensive. I don't think is a good idea to use 275 on the rear wheel of the 523i cause we don't have the power and you will lose out on some accelaration. So style 123 or 135M will be the best choice IMO.

Used ones are hard to come by, but if they do the fair price for a set of 123 is around $8,500 anything more than that you have to ask yourself do you really want the rim. I don't think there are used 124 or 135M in the market as they are not standard equipement.

As to the side effect is more bumpy ride, don't know if it is because of the RFT and you don't need to mod your suspension. Other side effects are the fact that 18" tire cost more than 16" if you ever need to replace them but just can't resist the look of 18" wheels and I think is a better fit on the E60 since our car looks tall from the side, 17" still looks small but still beat having 16" I don't find my car's fuel consumption increase as much as I thought.

Hope this helps.

I think if you get it at the factory than that's the price, if you get it after you took delivery than is around 10k.

Hi Ray

Welcome back, well consider yourself lucky that your wife will do things like these for you and your car.

Glad I can help in some ways, a meet for sure is in the planning. Post some pics if you can when you got your car deliver. Haven't seen one with the start/stop button yet, the latest one that just arrive in my building is still key starts although it was deliver on early December.

Thanks ACS5, I think I will ask the shop to quote for brand new 135M first

Congruation Ray~ great to hear that you change yours successfully, it's a great news for me too

So, how much did they charge you for the whole set? including installation fee?
and did you sell your original wheels to them?

Hi Dave,

Well, I am just changing the rims to 138 from the ugly 16". Not a big deal to most. The whole set is 7K but i can trade-in my 16.. the net is 4.5K include installation. I think the price is right given that they are in very good condition.

Hope you got yours soon

Cheers

2500 for the 16" is a good price, the other shop took mine for 1200 but I don't want to carry the dirty rim in my trunk so I just let them take it.
