I have own a EOS3,EOS 1 and EOS D60 at the same period of time before...
Even the old old D60, the focusing speed is also fast compare with my EOS3 when using USM lens.
I don't think that the focusing speed of 5Dmk2 will slower that D60.
Also, I have tried my friend's 5Dmk2 with 24-105 F2.8L.....focusing is also very fast.

not any more. maybe the top end stuff but not these.
I saw a EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM for $5500
a EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L IS USM $4800
I ask how much for to take a EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM and most say about $6000 and that is half price

I don't suggest this as well, it takes a lot of effort to put the pulley in, better have a good pulley so you don't need to take it out again.

I dont use canon lens so it is slower.
But alot of ppl starting to say it is too slow on the 5Dmk2, even with canon lens

on the 40d, focusing is faster if lens have f2.8l or wider, assuming its the same for other models.
The larger the aperture....the faster the focusing.
