When I hit a deer damaging that same apron; I was told the same thing KyleB shared. Basically that whole quarter of the car has to be cut out and replaced, engine out and everything. My car was ultimately totalled because of the extensive labor involved. The body shop told me some cars can be bent back into shape, or cut and replace small portions, but our cars have to be done in the large modules they originally were built in.

Also, some insurance companies have reputations for fixing things properly, some don't.
