We are just comparing facts: that are for sure like resale values, fuel consumption, service costs and so on...those are certain and on the 545i for sure those are higher! The facts that aren't so sure are the performance road tests...anyway
Let me tell u smth most of us diesel 535d owner could probably afford the 545i because they are almos tin the same price range (almost). it's not like we couldn't afford a focus 1.6 right?
I was wondering if i made the right choice but my brain tells me i made the right choice because all the facts tell me this is the more money saver thant the petrol.
Bottom line is that if i seriously have taken into consideration the 545i i would seriosly have taken into consideration the M5. I mean it's not that waaay cheaper than the m5 and it has similar fuel consumption...well the same thing...have to have a fuel reserve whereever u go.

you must have me confused with someone else.. I didn't say you couldn't afford it mate.. I don't want words put in my mouth.

I didn't want a Diesel .. I don't care much for the sound of the engine. That, "for me", is something I want in a car .. A nice sounding 6c or 8c howl (not that the 545 gives you that IMHO).
I wanted the M5, but my wife drives the car. I only clean it and pay for it
But she won't drive anything but Auto.... My thinking is B5 now!

Wasn't this an RS6 discussion once?

Admittedly my recent experience has been mostly in a 550bhp Sportec tuned RS6, but from my days driving a standard RS6, I don't think anything other than an M5 E60-wise realitically stands any sort of chance with like for like drivers...

But i had to temper because i have only 1000km with my brand new car and already from the kick down i hit 4000rpm wich i feared alot? ! Hope it didn't affect it too much...

Oh, yes, your engine is ruined now. Seriously, you might as well trade it in on a new one because it will NEVER run as well as if you had kept it under 200 RPM for the first 10,000 miles and then slowly worked up after that for the next 100,000 miles.

Ahahaha u got me there! Read the 1st sentence and oh my goood what have id one??! LOOOOOOOOOOL
Yeah i thought that EVEN if u ignore the brake in period like go to read line from 10 miles on the car, it won't make too much of a difference since the engines are already broke-in at bmw and from what i've heard bmw takes some kind of rezerves and say 2000km brake-in just to be safe because they know almost everyone would try to push the car a bit more from 500km!!! If they would put that number direct into the manual, then everybody would say naah what's 500km, to hell with the brake-in! Bring it on....
