Hmm than maybe it's almost equal to the M5 0-60 in 4.7 seconds!!!
And maybe the 550i can outperform the M5!

Okay, good discussion. If I would take my horsetrailer of, will my car be faster then? Thanks for the guru compliment, you're the first. My clients always say their bill is to high Is everyone going to the IAA, I heard the 535i will be introduced, is that true?
I agree!
Not sure that bmw does that! In fact i'm not sure any comp does that! Those facts are checked by other organizations and regulations forums...anyway the single chapter at what a car company can "cheat" is the hp! but quite slightly!
And i know for sure the steptronic has worse times than manual! Only the SMG can compare or outperform the manual! It's a matter of torque converter imo!
You've got it totally back to front. Quoting a 0-60 that is higher than can be achieved or an HP rating that is lower than the car's "real" rating is not cheating. It's just conservative. If my car has fewer HP than advertised, or if my car cannot get close to published performance figures then I am likely to be very upset. If I can go quicker, then I am likely to be happy. Which I am.
U missunderstood me! All i can say that IMO only the hp figures can fluctuate (they are harder in a way to be exactly detected) and after all it's engineering so errors are accepted! 0-60 everybody can test with proper equippment!
I don't think I did All I was saying is that BMW seems to quote "official" times that are a little on the conservative side and that in the real world you can exceed them. My 545 doesn't take 5.8 to get to 60 and your 535 probably doesn't take 6.6 to get there either
That might be right! I have to test my car to make on opinion...but first brake in!!!
In fact, i might get lower times but not too much! u know from 5.8 or smth to 5.2 or lower it's alot at this level of performance! I mean look at BMW stock figures at the 545i and at the M5 and see what 1.1 seconds means! right?

I think it's only fair to give the diesel guys a break. Not everyone can afford to run a petrol BMW and it's credit to BMW that they make the cars which allow the less well off to venture into this sector.
Good luck to you all and I only hope that one day you are successful enough to afford a petrol BMW rather than the misers choice! Let them think their cars are as fast or faster, I think we have taken the p** out of them enough now

My Ride: 525d se auto. black sapphire, 17" 5 spoke 138 style alloys. dark poplar trim, charcoal flat weave cloth, bluetooth phone prep, dimming rear view and side mirrors, lumbar support, heated front deats, phone cradle
i think bmw are being conservative with the figures also, i recently did a 0-60 dash in 7.6 secs in my 525d auto! figures that bmw quote might be averages of several runs in different weather conditions... or just what a computer predicts what the car can do. different climates can have a massive difference in performance in cars. And also your car could be more powerful or not as pwerful as bmw suggests. I think the 545i is quicker than a 535d, because u still get lag in a 535d, and the power comes in lumps. whereas the 545i is consistently powerful accross the rev range. I prefer the diesel 525 to the petrol, more mpg and the torque makes u feel like ur going faster!
