Hi - I have been getting a grinding noise upon starting. It usually happens on cold start - first thing in the morning. I took it to the dealer and they said it didn't make the grinding noise. It appears to be getting worse and want some more information before I go back and complain. I did some searching and found some information on an issue with the belt tennsioner? Also looking for SI B11 04 03 which seems to relate to my problem. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks - My car is a 2005 530 with 43K miles

Hey Nonames..

I had the exactly same problem and it was only on morning cold starts. I took the car to the dealer and they fixed it by replacing some parts. I can't remember exactly what they did but it is a problem that BMW is aware of. Give me a few days so i can look up the paperwork and see what they replaced.

If you have another car, drop your car off at the dealer in the evening. In the morning, go visit them and start the car there. That should allow them a chance to hear the noise if they're too lazy to offer to do this themselves. Good luck!
