Hey Guys and Gals, Just to let you know that I brought my car into the dealership to get that knocking noise found and fixed. At first I belived that it was the steering rod loose as someone mentioned here before. They took it for a test drive as agreed that it was knocking and while driving slow. They tightened my front strut bar?? I said to myself that they couldnt find the problem and that they just made someone BS to get me out of their. I now have been knocking free for the past 2 weeks!! How does my front strut bar create a knocking noise in the first place?

I am getting this also. Only very slight and only noticeable when parking etc. I suspect the lubrication may do the job. Can this be done as DIY or is it a real pain in the arse to get to

The strut bar is under load at times and the load is taken off slightly them it would promote movement. When the loads are constantly coming on and off...e.g when cornering at low speeds....If that makes sense?
Dropped my car off at the Stealership this morning, got a lovely 318D...YUK )
They are going to chrage me for diagnostic time if they do not find a fault...Had a bit of a tet a tet with the SA, but nothing I could do about it.. Had to pay for the loan car as well ?14 a day (Roughly $28)....Still it keeps me mobile..

Dropped mine off yesterday....I'll let everyone know the results. I'm glad it's the strut bar and not the WD40 thing. The fact that a noise/feeling can be cured by WD40 kind of bothers me.

Just got a call from the dealer......they're changing the steering shaft.
I also have a aftermarket warranty but would rather BMW to fix it themselves.

Picked my car back up on Friday and the knock is still there. They have lubed the rack and apparently done some checks but the knocking is still there..Booked the car back in on Wednesday again...So we will see what happens... Not a happy bunny...

Well my dealer changed out the steering shaft and the noise/feeling is gone. As with anything the true test will be time but for now it seems fixed.
