Never put the front plate on either my M3 or M5. I was pulled over once in the M3 and sighted. Motorcycle cop gave me the business how photo radar law required the front plate... I gave my $72 donation to the county and never put the plate on. Considered a fix it ticket in Oregon. Not a moving violation. In 3 years I never got pulled over in the M5.

I have instructed my SA to not put on the front plate on the 550i either.

I told my SA not to put the front plate/bracket on and he smiled, and said, "no problem". No waivers to sign, nothing. They gave me the brackets to install later if I want. I figure.....what the hey......no one around here with a nice car has front plates. In two years with my 530 and no front plate, I never had trouble. And, I figure I could always play dumb and just say that the dealer never put the plates/bracket on for me, so I figured I didn't need it

I like that excuse. I have been noticing lately that many of the cars in Maryland are running with just rear plates. Most of the newer BMW and Mercedes as well as the Mustang's are without front plates.

In Illinois, front license plates are required by law. Still, I see some cars without them, but to me it's not worth it to get a ticket over something dumb like that.

The dealer left it off on his own accord. He gave it to me in the event that I ever needed to have it installed. So far, two years of good experience with no front plate in a two-plate state.
What about sticker inspection ? You won't get a new sticker until the car has 2 plates in the 2-plates state.

In New Jersey new cars are given a four year sticker. So it will be July of 2010 when I need to update my tag.

I will cross that bridge when I get there and roll the dice. Even then the inspection bone heads here are more dippy than a Soprano's episode.

I live in Illinois and I haven't had a front plate on my last two cars. Thats 15 years without a front plate. Never have been ticketed or pulled over. In no way am I gonna slap a plate on a $2,500 M kit front bumper. Ill keep the plate in the trunk and face the consequences if stopped. Heck I see cars driving around with no rear plates on a daily basis. But again I live in Illinois. Land of corruption.
